San Jose Police said Thursday they were investigating the city’s 30th homicide of the year – the shooting death of a man in an eastern San Jose neighborhood.

Police responded to a report that one person was shot shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 3300 block of Holly Drive. They arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot, Officer Steve Aponte said.

Officers and paramedics attempted to save his life, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The man’s name and other identifying information were not disclosed. Police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the homicide were still under investigation.

Tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a cash reward from the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Police.
